Hot off the back of our last award ceremony, the studio was delighted to once again receive recognition for its awesomeness. We have been nominated as one of the candidates for the Creative Industries Award at the Best New Business Awards 2008. Strangely enough the ceremony isn’t until February 2009 but never the less we will be dusting of our suits and we will let you know how it goes.

Twisted Studio was proud to stand as one of four of the UK's best incubated startups this year at the BIBC awards held in Bristol. We didn't quite take home gold, however the event was perky and with guest speaker being the interesting and suprisingly amusing Evan Davis, the BBC’s economics correspondent , and presenter of Dragon’s Den who also reports for Radio 4’s influential Today programme.
Twisted did share some further glory (by proxy) to be the part of the Champion Incubator System of the UK 2008. All thats left to say is "hell yeah, we were one of four of the best UK startup businesses!".

Twisted is making more news this week with its new competition. Incubatee of the year UK, a national competition for all of us young bloods fight it out in a ring, two man enter one man leave. But no really, its a show down and we're feeling pretty confident that we could get recognised for our excellence as a startup company and hoping high things (and our silky writing skills).  Time will tell, more on that soon.

Twisted Studio has been involved with the DigitalCity cluster since we were hatched in `06. It is a great resource for access to experienced professionals and similar companies from all reaches of the digital industry.  Well they got it into their heads to help young companies with potential and created the High Growth Workshop system a gruelling brain straining experience where consultants and veterans tried to cram as much of their knowledge in to your head as humanly possible over a seventeen week period. The secret underhand aim of the workshops was to indentify companies to enter the new support scheme so after the seventeen week stint we were paraded in front of a board of venture capitalists (don’t worry we aren’t selling) and we had 10 minutes to impress.
Needless to say we did so not only did we complete the course we got access to the DigitalCity’s high growth support resources. Oh yeah and a free book, rock on.

Twisted Studio didn’t do banners but if they did they’d probably be the best in the world. Twisted Studio now does banners and yes they are the best banners in the whole damned universe....probably.  Mixing both our creative and technical voodoo we managed to pack masses of coolness into a tiny little footprint and created a very snazzy series of banners which have gained quite a lot of interest due to its direct to database capture form and procedural animation....and here was us thinking this was quite an easy thing to achieve... apparently its above and beyond... go team!

Those of you who are avid followers of the twisted news stream will remember Meteor Golf a fun but secretively educational piece of software created to introduce kiddies to the concepts of game development and improve their problem solving skills. Well as we predicted the Kiddies loved it, strengthening our belief that kids only enjoy learning when they don’t realise they are learning at all. Due to the success of the original round of seminars the studio has been asked to run workshops at Enterprise week in November ’07 and a series of schools in Tees Valley.
Well never being a company to sit back and enjoy the success we soon realised we could do the whole thing so much better, so we did. The soon to be released Meteor Redux will include a sophisticated level creation tools with expert and beginner modes allowing the user complete control over their gaming environment. The game itself has also had a facelift too including realistic physics and a graphical overhaul which although may not be up to next gen standards is still damn pretty. We are currently in beta testing now, fine tuning the look and feel before we send it through to the real testing cycles...with the kids themselves....

Twisted Studio is proud to announce its first (of many) collaborations with CITV based around their new hit children’s TV show, Captain Mack.  He wears a red jump suit, he has a monkey, and in between saving space stations and defeating giant interstellar caterpillars he finds out who’s been stealing his friends bike.... brain child of John Bullivent...mad man!

The Twisted Team would like to welcome our latest member into a life of servitude. Zar will take on the role as our newest game play programmer, the hazing will commences shortly.  If he survives that’s one new Twisted family member (and one more character to design) Zar has been reported to say, without a hint of sarcasm in his voice that; “It’s a wonderful experience where I am learning new things every day”, like we said, the hazing will commence shortly...

Happy New Year people, it's 2008!!

Another set of resolutions to break and another birthday incoming.
We hope you had a great one, but while we're looking forward to another year just a little nostalgia for 2007.
Our first full year at Twisted Studio has seen us complete our first 5 figure contracts. We were winners at NESTA 2007 and prize winners at the Blueprint Business Plan awards 2007.
We look back seeing a plethora of finished projects and sit with pride at what we achieved. We can only hope the work keeps pouring in and we continue to grow as we want to.
Next year we will find more flash interactive projects while pushing forward on both our educational games fronts and technical projects (to be revealed in 2008).
Pushing forward like the technical voodoo masters we are and weaving our creative magic in all area's of interactive media imaginable.
Keep your eyes out for the Twisted brands as we put the pedal to the metal and make 2008 THE year Twisted breaks out and shows the world how it should be done!
